It is important to understand that there is no "one size fits all' workstation alignment because all people are different: different shapes, different sizes, different comfort levels, and different work habits all contribute to ergonomics issues. Pre-existing medical conditions and skeletal-muscular discomfort also play a role. Often times the discomfort experienced at work can signify an underlying medical condition and because of this, OEHS is not qualified to recommend specific remedies to problems associated with pain and discomfort. Individuals should reach out to a physician for pain and discomfort associated with their workstation. If pain or discomfort is not an issue, but individuals would like an assessment of their workstation, a qualified vendor can assist with identifying solutions and address questions regarding workstation arrangements, furniture, and devices available. These recommendations are discussed in more detail below:
Option 1: Pain and discomfort associated with current workstation:
If you are experiencing pain and discomfort, please see your doctor to discuss possible causes and remedies.
If your doctor recommends changes to your workstation, please work with your supervisor and a qualified vendor to select furniture and devices that address the underlying problem. OEHS does not have the authority to require that furniture or devices be purchased for your use. This is a decision to be made by your supervisor.
Option 2: No pain or discomfort but you would like to assess your workstation:
Individuals can complete a self-assessment of their workstation.
For individuals seeking ergonomic workstation arrangements, furniture, and/or devices, please work with your supervisor and a qualified vendor. OEHS does not approve workstation arrangements, furniture, or devices for use.
