Relocating Equipment to a Non-Tulane Location

If equipment is being relocated from Tulane to an external (non-Tulane) location, the move will likely be handled by third-party movers or lab members. In this case, a Green Tag is not required, and you do not need to complete the Equipment Transfer Form.

However, all equipment must still be decontaminated to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Please follow these specific guidelines before proceeding:

Specific Equipment Requirements

  • Biosafety Cabinets: If the equipment is a biosafety cabinet, please contact the Office of Biosafety directly, as they oversee the decontamination and tracking of all BSC’s.
  • Specialized Equipment: If the equipment contains lasers, generates X-rays, magnetic field-generating (MRI) or has been used with radioactive materials, you must contact Clayton Smith at csmith114@tulane.edu for clearance.
  • Tulane Asset Tags: If the equipment features a Tulane Asset Tag (barcode), you must notify the Materials Management Department to ensure university inventory records are accurately updated.
